Concrete Patios for Worth Backyards

Space for dinner outside and the folks who show up for it, on a slab that sends rain away from the house.

A Patio Should Fit the Way You Live

The most common regret we hear about an old patio is that it was too small, and the second most common is that water runs toward the house every time it rains. Both are easy to avoid at the planning stage and expensive to fix afterward. Our opening question is what happens out there on a typical July evening, and from that we chalk an outline on the lawn with room for chairs to pull out and a grill to operate safely. If there is an existing patio, we look at whether it has truly failed or simply looks dated, and tell you honestly. For a new one, the sod and soil are removed, crushed stone is laid and run over with a plate compactor, and boards are staked so the surface falls gently away from the foundation. The slab is usually around 4 inches thick, with reinforcement when the soil or the plans call for it, finished in a brushed texture, a smooth trowel or a stamped pattern, and jointed in a layout that suits its shape. Backyards in Worth are often modest in size, so getting the dimensions right matters more than ever.

Parts of a Patio Project

No two yards match, yet nearly every patio we pour involves this list.

  • Layout you can stand in

The outline marked on the lawn so you can test the size before digging.

  • Old patio assessment

A straight answer on whether your current patio needs replacing.

  • Removal when needed

A failed patio broken out and hauled away.

  • Compacted base

Crushed stone packed firm so the patio does not sink in spots.

  • Fall away from the house

A gentle grade built into the forms so water drains to the yard.

  • Finish options

Brushed, smooth or stamped and colored.

  • Joint layout

Joints positioned to suit the patio's shape and keep cracks tidy.

  • Cleanup

Forms removed, edges backfilled and the yard left neat.

How Your Patio Comes Together

  1. Plan and price

We mark the size, check the grade against the house and give you a written price listing thickness, base, finish and any removal.

  2. Prepare the ground

We lift the sod, dig out soft soil, tamp in crushed stone and stake boards so the finished surface drops away from the foundation.

  3. Pour day

Concrete goes down and gets the texture you chose, saw cuts follow, and blankets stay on through the cure before we clean up.

Why Our Patios Work Out

  • Drainage decided first

The slope is set before anything else, because a patio that drains toward the house is a bigger problem than a crack.

  • Sized honestly

We will tell you if the size you have in mind will feel cramped once the furniture is out.

  • A clean yard after

Forms, debris and leftover stone leave with us, and the lawn edges are backfilled.

  • Outline tested on the lawn
  • Drains toward the grass
  • Brushed, smooth or stamped
  • Edges backfilled

Time to Rethink the Backyard?

Describe the yard and who uses it. Dimensions, surface and slope all get sorted on the call, and then we come out with a tape.
